Findings from our need assessment revealed that many women are not engaged in any form of income-generating activity. While some of these women are housewives, others are farmers and entrepreneurs willing to expand their businesses.
So as part of our Microcredit program, we carried out financial literacy training for women in the community to improve their understanding and knowledge, so they can have increased savings and improved business income.
We also discovered that over 50% of women who registered for the program have never owned or have inactive bank accounts. So we facilitated the opening of bank accounts and distributed their ATM Cards. Through these accounts, we can safely disburse their funds, they can save their finances securely, and are privy to other financial services that banks might offer.
Additionally, we have disbursed interest-free loans to all women enrolled in our program with aims to improve entrepreneurship within the community and enhance women’s source of livelihood, ultimately improving the living conditions of people in the community.
